Several quick updates:

Human Rights Watch Film Festival

The New York Premiere of Traces of the Trade took place last night as part of the Human Rights Watch Film Festival at the Walter Reade Theater at the Lincoln Center in front of a sold-out audience. The screening was followed by a 30-minute Q&A and then a reception hosted by the festival and a book signing. Two screenings remain–today at 1:30 and 9:00pm. Katrina Browne and I will be in attendance, as will, I believe, a few other members of the film-making team, to talk with attendees. Signed copies of Inheriting the Trade will be available at both screenings as well.

P.O.V. Interactive Blog discussion: win a copy of Inheriting the Trade

P.O.V. and Beacon Press have been working together with us to spread the word about both the film and the book. It is proving to be a great partnership. P.O.V. has launched a website specifically about the Traces of the Trade–which I wrote here about on Saturday. Included in the website are three excerpts from Inheriting the Trade as well as a blog conversation for film viewers & book readers to have with me. People who submit questions have a chance to win one of 25 copies of my book. Feel free to spread the word to your friends.

Press Coverage

We were prepared for significant media coverage of the film’s premiere on PBS but I must say that the efforts by P.O.V. have succeeded far beyond what I anticipated. Articles are popping up all over the country, including Philadelphia, Seattle, Folsom, Miami, Kansas City, Boston, Tulsa, and too many others to include here. Suffice it to say that we remain honored and blessed by our partnership with P.O.V. in reaching out across the nation with the message of Traces of the Trade.

And please note my cousin James DeWolf Perry’s blog posting–at Impertinent Questions–this morning about all the positive reviews Traces of the Trade is receiving as well as a nod to the many bloggers who are spreading the word.
